I Don't Take My Own Advice

Yeah, there's a big piece off my front trim and a foglight out on I-680 between Sunol and Pleasanton. The last time I hit a tire tread and damaged my poor car I wrote on this very blog that you should never drive in the slow lane.
Well, a week or two ago I was really tired and was cruising in the slow lane. By the time I processed that there was two tires worth of tread in my lane, it was too late and blammo!
About 90 seconds up the highway I saw the tractor's trailer listing to the left, where the two tires had come off the rim. Sparks were flying everywhere.  I pulled alongside the tractor and honked my horn. Still leaning on the horn I pulled in front of him with my right blinker on.
He got the hint and safely pulled to the shoulder.
Now I know what you're thinking. Of course we know the tread I hit came from that trailer. But I can't prove it. And AAA's policy is that the tires tread must come off right in front of you to not count as a chargeable claim. So my poor car looks like this.  Still runs like a champion.
